Pilgrimage to the Holy Land April 2012

Pilgrims lead by Fr Nicolas Spicer from the parishes of Worksop, Horden, Goldthorpe and Hickleton on pilgrimage to the Holy Land between 17th April and 24th April 2012, to walk in the foot steps of Jesus and below are some of the pictures of our unforgettable experience.

Cana and the site of the wedding and Jesus' 1st miracle of changing water into wine.






Nazareth and the Basilica of the Annunciation, built on top of the 2000 year old streets and the cave/house where the angel appeared to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mount Tabor and the site of the Transfiguration of our Lord.


 

 

Capernaum on the banks of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus preached in the Synagogue and where he met his disciples, Simon Peter and Andrew. The Church is built over the site of Peter's Mother-in-Laws House, where Jesus visited.




 

The Mount of Beatitudes and the site of the Sermon on the Mount, over looking the Sea of Galilee

 

Up the Golan Heights to Banias and the site of the city of Caesarea Phillippi and where the miracle of the loaves and fishes look place. Also the site of one of the 3 sources of the river Jordan.




Tabgha, the Church of the Primacy of S Peter where Jesus appeared to his disciples for the 3rd time after his Resurrection.

Lunch and a quick shop for Dead Sea Mud and then up to to Herod's Royal Citadel at Masada, with view across the Dead Sea to Jordan.

Back to our hotel for a little R&R, in other words food and collapse!

 

 

Walking through the square in front of the Weston (Wailing) Wall, up Mount Moriah to the site of the original Temple with views across the Kedron valley the garden of Gethsemane and the Chapel of Dominus Flevit





 

The church built of the site of the house of S. Ann, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary


 

 

Walking the streets of the old city for the 'Way of the Cross' (Via Dolorosa), finishing in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre the site of Jesus' Crucifixion, Burial and Resurrection.








 

Lunch and then on to Mount Zion to the church of S. Peter Gallicantu, the site where Peter denied knowing Jesus after his arrest. The Church is also built on the site of the High Priest's house and it is where the guards would have bought Jesus after his arrest for scourging and to spend the night imprisoned before his crucifixion.









Our last night party with a small gift for Fr Spicer from us all, to say thank you for an amazing week.
